Ellis is One!!

Where has the time gone?

This little peanut is one year old TODAY:

If life goes fast with the first child, it flies with the second!

At one year, Ellis is walking with push toys, standing alone for seconds, has cut four teeth and is adding curls to her hair with each day!

I love this girl so much. She is so dainty and sweet with an undeniably curious side. I catch her doing so many things her brother never would have at this age–dragging toilet paper across the bathroom, trying bugs and slugs (and anything else she can find outside), climbing chairs, couches, and stairs like a pro, and making a beeline to the sound of running bath water. You can find her with her thumb in her mouth at any given moment, and she has the cutest vocabulary of babble.

Though today is the day we mark one year with our Ellis girl, last Saturday morning was when we celebrated. We had family over for a pancake party. The pancakes were yummy, the weather was gorgeous, and the girl was adorable. It was a sweet celebration.

The grub, including strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, sprinkles, pecans, and coconut toppings.

Homemade Kid Clothes

My kids are incredibly blessed to have such talented grandmothers. Since Christmas, Liam and Ellis have been enjoying several things made for them.

DSC01511First is oh-so-cute tutu that Omi made for the girl. (not pictured: matching cousin Genevieve)

Ellis was also fortunate enough to receive such a fun little skirt from her Mimi (not pictured: matching cousins Sierra and Lily)

The boy was so excited to get his very own Batman cape (made by Omi) and matching mask (made by his wonderful aunt Merrill). Batman doesn’t smile when he’s got so much crime to fight, of course.

christmas card 4Luckily for us, it’s  become a tradition for my  mom to make matching Christmas jammies for all of  her grandchildren. Currently, there are 8 kids (the 3 not pictured-Maggie, Ben, and Tobias- are in Burundi).

With talent like that from both lines, I think it’s safe to say it runs in the family! Thank you, Omi and Mimi!

Ellis Happenings

Our girl is growing up and looking oh so cute!

Here she is sporting her Pool Time gear (in lieu of a bathing suit this summer):

DSCN0715She’s also had an increasing interest in whatever we’re eating, so we decided it was time to offer some rice cereal.

Maybe not a fan…yet.

Honey Girl

It’s hard to believe our little girl is already two months old! She is getting sweeter by the day…

First Bottle

In efforts to prepare Ellis for my return to work, we introduced her to the bottle last week.

And as is becoming tradition, Daddy gives the first one. It took her a while to get the hang of it, but I think she’ll do just fine!

After I looked at this picture, I realized I’d seen one very much like it before. Totally unplanned (expression and all), this is the picture of Liam receiving his first bottle:

The only real difference is that Jonathan looks a little more tired this time around 🙂

I’m sure with time, I’ll find it easier to be faithful with my blogging, and I will do my best to post adorable pictures of Ellis from time to time, but I have a feeling there won’t be as many pictures gracing the internet  as with our first-born (probably a good thing, when I put it that way). Life is just a little busier with two!

Welcome to the World, Ellis!

We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our sweet daughter, Ellis Rose!

DSCN0514

She made her grand entrance (more on that to come) on Monday afternoon, April 15th (just two days before her due date). Ellis weighed in at a petite 6lb 11oz and measured 20in long. She is adjusting wonderfully to life outside the womb. Liam could not be any sweeter or more interested in her, and Daddy is beside himself in love! We are so overwhelmed at God’s goodness to us–a constant reminder that it’s far more than anything we could ever earn.

We love baby Ellis.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the incredible family and community who are loving and supporting us.
